What does it cost?
Free for carriers and owner-operators. Brokers post their first 25 loads free, then pay $2 per load posted. That is a posting fee, not a commission or brokerage fee.
How does the price work?
Every load posts an all-in price, fuel surcharge included. It only goes up, on the broker's schedule, until someone books it. The broker sets a start price, a top price, a step and an interval, and the price reaches its top before pickup minus 1 hour. The exact moment a price changes is never shown; the countdown stops 15 seconds before a change.
How do I book a load?
- Share your phone's location. The truck must reach pickup with travel time plus 1 hour.
- Take the photos the load needs, one at a time, on your phone. You have five minutes.
- The photos are checked for visible condition.
- You're booked. The pickup and delivery addresses and load details are texted to the number you enter.
Why do I only see the city and ZIP code?
Before booking, carriers see the city and ZIP code only. The addresses come by text once the load is booked.
Who can book or post?
Carriers need active operating authority (MC number), a USDOT number, and auto liability insurance on file with FMCSA. Brokers need active broker authority and a $75,000 broker bond or trust (BMC-84 or BMC-85). Everyone is checked against FMCSA records and re-checked every day. The company's identity is confirmed with a code sent to the email FMCSA has on file.
What do I need to bring?
- Dry van: load straps, clean trailer.
- Reefer: load locks (load bars), clean trailer, unit runs −10°F when the load asks for it.
- Flatbed and step deck: tarps, winch straps rated 3,500 lb working load limit or more, winch bar, chains and binders when required.
Who pays the lumper?
If a load needs a lumper, the broker states it on the load: the broker pays at the dock, or the carrier pays and the broker reimburses with the receipt.
What is a Rush load?
A load the broker needs moved fast. It is marked Rush on the board and pays a premium.
Do I get a rate confirmation?
No. Booking is a binding agreement between the carrier and the broker at the posted all-in price and terms. Honest Load Board does not issue rate confirmations; the posting and the booking record are the agreement.
Is Honest Load Board a broker?
No. Honest Load Board is not a broker or a motor carrier. It does not arrange transportation, set prices or handle freight payments.
What happens to my photos and location?
Photos are encrypted, private to the reservation, and deleted after review or when the hold ends. The truck location is used to check arrival. Photo and location details are kept for 24 hours. Read the privacy page.
Can I use an auto-clicker?
No. Auto-clickers, bots and scripts are not allowed. Automated clicking pauses booking.
Are these real loads?
Right now the board shows sample loads in the Chicago area, and booking one is a simulation.
